May Herbal Walk

A Morning of Herbal Wisdom & Immersion

We warmly invite you to join us for a special morning combining herbs, healing, and the the timeless wisdom they hold.

🌿 Herbal Walk with Dolly Lushai (2 hours)

After a brief welcome, we’ll step into the local grassland and woods before returning to the herbal garden to meet the plants as they move towards the fullness of the season.

With May upon us — and the May Tree (Hawthorn) in full bloom — we’ll explore how plants can offer healing on many levels. As we walk, you’ll learn about their nature, their qualities, and discover your own personal connection with them.

This is a gentle amble over a short distance, with reasonably easy access throughout.

The walk is led by Dolly Lushai, medical herbalist, who will also weave in insights from Ayurveda, the traditional system of health from India.

🌿 Tea Tasting & Herbal Immersion
We conclude the morning with an interactive session, experiencing a selection of herbs through taste, scent, and feeling.
This immersion invites you to connect more deeply with the plants, share your impressions, and expand your knowledge of how to bring herbs into your everyday life.

Of the many varieties of Mullein which can be used medicinally, the one most commonly referred to is Verbascum thaspus as seen in this photo.

The recorded use of Mullein as a herbal remedy dates as far back as 2000 years with Dioscorides mentioning it as a treatment for pulmonary complaints. It is still used for the same today by Medical Herbalists, its demulcent and expectorant properties help expel congestion from the lungs and its mucilage content coats and soothes irritated mucus membranes.

An infused oil of the flowers of Mullein are an effective external application for the treatment of earache.
